Parks & Recreation Leadership

The Parks & Recreation Department is led by Parks & Recreation Director, Matt Hendren, who oversees the development, maintenance, and programming of parks, trails, events, and recreational facilities throughout the City of Broken Arrow. Matt Hendren leads with a vision of creating accessible, vibrant spaces that enhance community well-being and encourage active lifestyles.

Park Maintenance

This division ensures that Broken Arrow’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, trails, and green spaces remain safe, clean, and enjoyable.

What They Do

  • Maintain and repair park facilities, playgrounds, and shelters
  • Mow, landscape, and care for over 800+ acres of public land
  • Inspect equipment and ensure safety compliance
  • Support event setup and seasonal maintenance needs

Recreation

What They Do

  • Plan and implement youth, adult, and senior recreation programs
  • Coordinate sports leagues, fitness classes, and community events
  • Partner with schools, organizations, and local groups
  • Manage program registration and participant engagement
